The history of Mars started almost 100 years ago in Tacoma in the United States of America.
Year 1911. Ethel and Frank Mars start making of candies in their kitchen. They become appreciated by their family and friends almost from the very beginning, then by the other town citizens and finally by people from all over the world...
1930 – SNICKERS® bar was introduced on American market
1946 – UNCLE BEN’S® brand was developed - first parboiled rice
1958 – WHISKAS® - a new catfood brand is introduced in UK
1965 – opening of Waltham Centre for Pet Nutrition in Waltham, UK
1977 – Senior Managers worldwide approved Mars Five Principles for the first time
2000 – purchase of EBLY® in Chateaudun, France
2002 – ROYAL CANIN® becomes the part of Mars, Inc
2007 – global re-branding under the name Mars, Inc
- NUTRO® and GREENIES® become the part of Mars, Inc
2008 - WRIGLEY becomes the part of Mars, Inc

The first Mars products appeared in Poland in the 1980’s. The could be bought in Pewex or Baltona shops for foreign currency. For many the bars like MARS SNICKERS BOUNTY and MILKY WAY remained only in the sphere of dreams. The dreams came true on 6 July 1992. It is the date when Master Foods Poland came into being.
1992, December – Dry Petfood Factory is launched in Kożuszki Parcel
1994 – new office, part of production complex, is opened
- on our own iniciative we celebrate World Animal Week for the first time in
Poland
1995 – opening of Confectionery Factory in Janaszówek and Wet Petfood Factory in
Kożuszki Parcel
1996 – launch of barline in Confectionery Factory in Janaszówek
1997 – we double the area of Dry Petfood Factory
- first edition of Summer Intership for Students
- we receive the prize from Ministry of Education for Recognition for Polish

1998 - modern production lines are launched in Wet Petfood Factory
1999 - we open Fitness Centre out of concern for health and condition of our
Associates
- new M&M’S® production line is launched
2000 - we receive the honourable, charity award ‘Benefactor of the Year’
- we are the Offical Sponsor of European Dog Show in Poznań
2001 - the following innovation on petfood market – 100g pouches of PEDIGREE® and
WHISKAS®
2002 - we are socially responsible – Dr Jordana Medal, Silver Medal for supporting
sports clubs and once again the title ‘Benefactor of the Year’ were granted
2004 - the launch of the fourth Mars factory in Poland – Milk Drinks Factory, the
only in the corporation producing WHISKAS® milk for cats
- we receive the ISO 14001 certificate for all factories and the office
2006 - completion of building of playground for children and youth in Sochaczew
- we are the Offical Sponsor of World Dog Show in Poznań
- Polish petfood factories are the best in Mars, Inc
2007 - during Sochaczew Days we organise the ‘sweet’ event – ‘The Event in the
Colour of Chocolate’
- SNICKERS® brand sponsors the skatepark in Sochaczew
- we change name for Mars Polska
2008 - during Sochaczew Days we organise the family picnic – ‘Our Family and
Our Dog’
- October, the second office was opened in the centre of Warsaw
